Social Accounts

For several years, many charities and other companies have felt that Financial Accounts give a very incomplete version of a company’s performance, focussed almost exclusively on financial results.

For this reason, a number of charities and social enterprises, including Jesmond Pool, have begun to produce parallel documents known as Social Accounts, which aim to document the social and community achievements and impacts of the company.

Jesmond Pool first produced social accounts for 2004, 2005 and 2006, providing an invaluable, detailed account of the benefits provided by the pool to the local and wider community, and to other stakeholders.  
Our social accounts have generated wide interest amongst other projects seeking to move in a similar direction, both in the UK and abroad. During 2007 it was decided in future to prepare social accounts every other year, so the social accounts published in July 2009 cover the years 2007 and 2008. The latest version of the social accounts, published in June 2011, cover the years 2009 and 2010.
