Jesmond Swimming Project was the original name of the company formed to lease the building from the Council and operate it as a public swimming and leisure facility. In February 2011 we changed the name of the company to Jesmond Community Leisure, to reflect the broader range of facilities that we now provide.
We are a company limited by guarantee, registered in England and Wales with the registered no. 2645699, and a registered charity no. 1010563. Further information about us is registered on the Companies House and Charity Commission websites.
The Company is managed by its Board, comprising the Trustees of the Charity, who normally meet monthly, on the second Sunday of the month, upstairs at the pool. Meetings are open to the public – if you wish to attend please check the date, time and location at pool reception. The 2011 Annual Meeting took place at the pool on Sunday 5 June.
For 2011/12 the Chair of the Board is Jane Lowdon, Vice-Chair Paul Rea, Finance Director Jane Gibbon and Company Secretary Chris Clarke. The Board carries out much of its business through sub-groups comprising a mixture of trustees, members and staff.
At present the Chair of the Finance and Fundraising Sub-Group is Phil Moxon, Personnel Joanne Kingsland, Communications Russell Deane, Building Development Mike Miller and Looking Ahead Les Hodgson.
Other Trustees are Dave Rushworth, Liz McAlpine, Paul Rea, Richard Taylor, Barrie Thompson, Simon Leach, Paul Ryder and Peter Slater.
The Company Structure also includes Members, who, whilst not Trustees, take part in many of the activities of the Board and Sub-Groups.
At present there are 11 Members who are not also Trustees.
